SS Mary Mother of God, the Theotokos

The January 1 is just the beginning of a new year on this day, in fact, the Church celebrates an important anniversary with the venerable title of Mary Mother of God
It 's the first and oldest Marian dogma, formulated at the Council of Ephesus held in 431.
The council had been convened to affirm the unity of person in Christ, because he wanted to resolve the dispute was not properly Christological but Marian.
Nestorius refused to call Mary Mother of God, considering it as mother of the man Jesus and denying a true identity between this man and the Son of God
The council reiterated that identity, he says, therefore, that Mary being the mother of Christ is the Son of God and that God must be recognized as the mother of God reconciling
The definition is not particularly happy, and it is unnecessary to specify that the motherhood of Mary means only the person of the Son.
The council could have used the Greek expression Christotokos, or mother of Christ, but already a century in the devotion to Mary the title Theotokos was in use come down to us in the translation of Mother of God
Among the detractors of the doctrine Catholic and even among many believers, has spread a kind of impatience with the dogmatic position of our Church, as if to consider it as a unique and distinctive of Roman Catholicism, neglecting to mention the existence of dogmatic pronouncements within the Orthodox church as well as in the Reformed church. Just share this with the Orthodox dogma of the divine motherhood so dear to them to spend five solemnity in their liturgical calendar.
This dogma, like the other Marian dogmas, shows that they are the result of long devotions practiced by the faithful over the centuries have seen, anticipated and met with the heart that then the reason explained with the aid of the theology, which always starts from the characterization for revelation contained in Sacred Scripture.
divine motherhood of Mary highlights two aspects of the Incarnation. On one hand, the Son of God, it changes to become the son of a woman to take on human nature forever. On the other hand, humanity is raised up to God, because a woman has become the mother of a divine person.
This can best be understood in prayer, even in the forms of meditation and contemplation to discover some peculiarities of the Christian, how to recognize child, sought and loved by God or giving thanks for the gift participated in the divine life.
Speaking of Mary is to speak of the Church. All attributes Marian not dogmatic and can be applied to the Church and it is no coincidence that the Vatican Council II , right in the Dogmatic Constitution on the Church, Lumen Gentium, devotes the eighth chapter to the Blessed Virgin.
The church recognizes Mary as the one who intercedes, sound and comfort, as one who dispenses with, regenerates and protects, as one who blesses, rescues and receives.
The dogmas of faith that the truth revealed, should be replicated in their simplicity of doctrine, meditation of us faithful, especially in these times of blatant smarrimento e di profondi cambiamenti , per diventare come le rocce nel deserto di biblica memoria, non tanto e non solo per assicurarci una fede solida, quanto per considerarle, come i nomadi del tempo, ossia punti di riferimento certi ed affidabili, per proseguire sicuri il cammino nell’assai mutevole paesaggio della nostra esistenza.

THE COMMUNITY 'Scilla UNITS IN MEMORY OF THE VICTIMS OF THE EARTHQUAKE

Terminata la celebrazione è iniziata una processione, aperta come ever, the Crucifix, followed by Don Francis, the sailors of Italy and the faithful, each of whom was holding a lighted candle. During the course was recited the Holy Rosary and hymns have been raised to the Lord our God, the procession that started from the main church, is articulated to the strip of beach below the church of the Holy Spirit. Here, a member of the Sailors Italy, threw a wreath into the sea in memory of the victims, especially those who have died from the tsunami wave that has resulted from seismic fluctuations, all occurred on the notes of Silence performed by trumpeter of the band Scilla. After this moving ceremony, the parade was held in the eighteenth century church (the only one to have remained intact despite very strong shock Simich) where it was screened a film that told in detail, starting from this Monday, December 28, 1908, all days that followed. Days of despair, agony and misery.

The Difference Between Yellow And Green Xanax

the earthquake of December 28, 1908

THE TERRIBLE DAWN OF ONE HUNDRED YEARS AGO

the evening of December 27, 1908, no one could possibly imagine that the unprecedented catastrophe from there a few hours, would cause the destruction of Messina, Reggio semidistruzione and caused untold damage to the surrounding cities of both coasts. It was a quiet December evening, festive evening. At the Teatro Vittorio Emanuele di Messina, in fact, gave the first of Aida, while walking through a Reggio course lit by street lamps powered by electricity, thanks to a modern facility opened just the day before. After the party, and a night which saw rain down a slow, but steady, at 5:21 on Monday 28 December, the earth shook for 37 interminable seconds. It was an impressive kick, one of the most powerful of all the history of earthquakes in Italy, which reached the 11 ° -12 degrees on the Mercalli scale. Many of those who managed to escape the collapse of buildings, died in the tsunami wave over 10 meters high that it issued. They suffered serious damage inland road, rail, telegraph and telephone. In all the victims were over 140,000. The epicenter of the quake was also the Strait of Messina and Scylla, which always dominates, suffered severe damage and loss of many men. There were many victims, and most people died because, trying to find refuge on the beach of Marina Grande, was attacked by the imposing mass of water that did not give her a chance. Among the victims was also the priest Francesco Bellantoni, canon of the Collegiate Church, whose fate was assimilated to that of his brother, the priest Joseph Bovi, who died in the earthquake of 1783 whose remains are found, to his expressed will, in the church of San Giuseppe. How many people have lost their entire family, many children have died and those who have grown up orphans?! . The earthquake was a veritable scourge for the people of Scilla and also for its immense artistic and cultural heritage. Since our area with high seismic risk, there are many earthquakes that have plagued our land, but now he had changed the conditions necessary for a new revival: 1) a strong economy, 2) the mentality to recover as much as possible the buildings and churches in order to preserve the historical memory. The previous earthquake, that of 1783, was also abnormal flow, and despite this, the most beautiful and venusta Scilla resources than before. The church of San Rocco was enlarged and enriched with marble and stucco, the main church was also enlarged and enriched by two massive towers on the facade, the church of the Holy Spirit that dates back to 1752, suffered no damage from the earthquake of 1783 but by following the tsunami, and despite this, it was restored within a few years. But now, as I wrote a moment ago, were less able to carry out the groundwork for a reconstruction worthy of being called such. Very weak economy after almost 50 years by the National, highlighted the gap between North and South of Italy, a mentality that was to completely destroy and rebuild, rather than recover, and thus save what can be saved and, last but not least, a slow bureaucracy, made the earthquake of 1908, the greatest catastrophe ever to hit our earth.

Merry Christmas to all !!!!!!!

Merry Christmas Feliz Navidad Καλά Χριστούγεννα

Merry Christmas Frohe Weihnachten

Scillachiese wishes you all a holy Christmas. In particular, all Scilla in the world, who for various reasons can not return to our country, and all the friends who visit our Blog.

"December 8, 2008, SS MARY IMMACULATE SCILLA CELEBRATE"

Day December 8, the Church venerates the Virgin Mary under the title of the Immaculate Conception. Although the lack of original sin in Mary was officially sanctioned by proclamation of the dogma with the bull " Ineffabilis Deus" by Pope Pius IX, the 8 December 1854, the Church venerates Mary Ss . Immaculate already the eleventh century and, since 1476, the feast was introduced in the Roman Calendar. Scilla, that ancient Christian roots, had always been the Virgin Mary as its sole owner of the parish. Initially venerated under the title of Virgin Odigitria , since time between the end of the fifteenth century and the beginning of the XVI is under the title of the Immaculate Virgin. E 'due at this fact, the realization of the beautiful marble sculpture depicting the Immaculate Conception, whose iconography has always been rebuilt at the description of the Virgin and St. John in the Apocalypse ago. The tradition of venerating the Virgin Mary remained for Scilla, unchanged over the centuries and even yesterday was observed in an atmosphere of prayer, devotion and joy. In one word, in a festive atmosphere! He was for many years that the good God gave us a sunny December 8 like yesterday. The feast began with the celebration of the Novena at 6 o'clock in the morning. E 'continued with the solemn celebration of the 11, in which Scylla has welcomed three new baptized, and ended with the recitation of Second Vespers which preceded the procession through the streets of the town. The procession started around 16.30 and saw the participation of all the parochial reality of the gang of Scylla and the civil and military authorities. It 'been a path of prayer, reflection and action by the musical band. Very beautiful moments were the stops in front of churches and places of relief of suffering. At these stops, the prayer has been enriched by reflections on the issues where we were. Finally, very beautiful and moving was the moment when, arrived at the church, we lifted up the wonderful image of the Virgin, that Scylla is honored to have, as a symbol of a high into the sky. Don Francis, after the procession, thanked the people, the civil and military authorities and groups present, reiterating its commitment to the people of Scilla who, day after day, it feels to love more and more. In conclusion, I really think we have to thank Scilla Don Francis, for giving us the opportunity to experience a day of faith, devotion and joy!

Solemnity of the 'Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary Mother Teresa of Calcutta

Today is the eve of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. On this Solemnity Maria and contemplated as a creature of God, preserved from sin from the moment of conception, it is already defined by the first ever All-Holy. Closes tomorrow at the Lourdes jubilee year to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the apparition of the Immaculate Conception to Saint Bernadette
I think our whole parish looking forward to this day, after the beautiful novena lived every day from the five am. As always, the faithful filled the Cathedral Church Scilla closely following the catechesis, with reflections on the precise figure of Mary, which have enriched us and given food for thought. Hopefully tomorrow will be a beautiful day, in every sense and we can walk with Mary through the streets of our parish, praying with you in the places where we spend our life, especially in places of suffering and hope Happy Holidays to all.

Nyquil And Benzonatate Together

Although it is in September which we celebrate the Blessed of Calcutta, I also spend a few words to remember a little 'history and the great personality of a woman "small" physically, but great in his relationship with God and neighbor. A way of life started only eighteen years, which led Mother Teresa to the most deprived suburbs of Calcutta to help those in need, those who suffer, those who felt lonely, unloved, unwanted by society. But let's order. He was born in Albania in August 1910 by a wealthy Roman Catholic family, and only eighteen years decided to take holy orders by entering the Sisters of Charity, took the name of Mother Teresa and then left for India to finish his studies. It 'just in Calcutta that he decided to devote his life to charity and established himself there, the Congregation of the Missionaries of Charity where I think everybody still distinguish a white uniform with blue stripes. After much time spent in India she came to thank one of the most beautiful in 1979 received the Nobel Prize for peace. Instead, the friendship was born in the eighties with Pope John Paul II, who succeeded Mother Teresa to open a table in Rome's famous Vatican City, dedicated to the saint of hospitality, Santa Marta. Meanwhile, her condition got worse with each passing year, until he died in September 1997 in Calcutta at the age of 87. I still remember that only two years after the death of Pope John Paul II began the beatification process. I must say that even today after eleven years after his death the world has a truly beautiful and important to remember that person, a person to say the least beautiful in words and in deeds, and on this that struck me too, in the words. The following fact I would suggest to all the beautiful or mildly beautiful words of Mother Teresa on the right, on our goals, our honesty and sincerity, in short, in one word: life.

If you do good may accuse you NO MATTER
selfish ulterior motives, do good

If you realize your goals you will find false friends and true enemies
Make it DOES NOT MATTER

The good you do will be forgotten tomorrow, DO GOOD NO MATTER

Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable,
DOES NOT MATTER, BE HONEST AND FRANCO

Give the world the best of you and kick,
DOES NOT MATTER, THE BEST OF YOU
Mother Teresa
